Cricket Comes Together

Supporting families facing one of life’s toughest tests

We’re asking clubs, groups and schools to host their own #RedforRuth event and help us turn red. No matter how big or small your community is, please help us raise awareness and funds to support more families facing one of life’s toughest tests.

Put on an event and turn your club red – however you choose to support, this summer we can turn cricket red and make a huge impact. From red kit to red stumps, decorating the pavilion or sports hall, the more creative you can be the better!

Ambassadors

Supporting the Campaign

From Test match superstars at #RedforRuth to local community heroes, this summer we’re bringing the whole cricket community together.

"Seeing so many groups want to take part and help make a difference is awe-inspiring, and I’m looking forward to seeing hundreds of clubs around the country turn red in support of families facing grief. However you want to get involved, it will be great to see so many people in red coming together to play cricket this summer.

Inspiring Your Local Community

It was a blessing for us to get involved in the Ruth Strauss Foundation campaign in 2021. We wanted to bring it to our club to inspire the youngsters within the community, and to showcase the power of volunteering and support towards a worthy cause. We felt #RedforRuth was well received by both our young participants and the parents.

What was rewarding for us is that the children continued to talk about the event, even weeks after the event had taken place and they are already coming up with new plans for next year. We felt we have ignited that passion and commitment within them and plan to have #RedforRuth as a permanent event within the Cavaliers’ calendar.

Frequently Asked Questions

We’re not a cricket club, can we still take part?

Yes! We’re proud of the support of the cricket family towards our cause, but this isn’t a campaign just for cricket clubs. Anyone can get involved in hosting their own #RedforRuth event, whether you’re a school, sports club, community group, workplace, or any other group.

Do we have to run our event on a specific day?

No, you can host your own #RedforRuth event whenever you choose, it’s up to you. However, most of the events around the country will be taking place during the early summer, as we’re aiming for as many people as possible to turn red around the #RedforRuth Day during the Test Match at Lord’s to raise awareness of our mission.

What do we do to fundraise?

Whatever you like! However you chose to raise funds is up to you and your group. We’ve loads of ideas in our welcome pack and keep an eye on our social media channels for creative things other clubs are doing.

Why do we need to register our event?

Registering your event means we can send you your event pack, and will mean you’re in with a chance of winning our prize draws for clubs taking part in the campaign. We’d also love to send you email updates about the campaign and what’s happening, but don’t worry –we won’t contact you unless you opt in and we will never pass on your data to other organisations without your permission.

What is in the event pack?

We’ve got lots of red items to help you turn #RedforRuth, including wristbands, balloons, bat stickers and boundary cards! Also included are posters to show your support for the campaign. And our welcome pack is full of tips, ideas and useful information. All items are subject to availability.

We would like more than one pack. Can you send us another?

As a charity, we have a limited supply of products available for free. But you can purchase additional packs and other items at our shop. Don’t forget we also have event materials to download.

When will our pack arrive?

When you request a pack, we’ll notify the fulfilment company of your request immediately. Please expect the pack to take a couple of weeks to arrive, but we aim to get it to you well in advance of your event date.

Do we have to be in the UK to take part?

No, you can run an event anywhere in the world. But we will only be able to send packs to UK addresses due to the increased costs involved in sending them safely.

Why can’t I see the leaderboard?

Unfortunately, due to circumstances outside of the control of Ruth Strauss Foundation, the GivePenny fundraising platform is no longer available and the leaderboards that were hosted on their platform cannot be accessed. However, your fundraising still counts! We’ll be announcing the winners of the prizes for this year’s campaign as planned shortly after the competition closes on 20 September 2023.

Is there a fundraising target?

We ask that clubs and schools aim to raise a minimum of £250. This is just a suggested target, but it means that RSF can ensure that the campaign runs smoothly, will cover the costs of the event packs and other support, and enable us support families facing grief.

What has happened to our GivePenny fundraising page?

GivePenny has informed its users that it will be closing down its fundraising platform operation on Thursday, 31st August, 2023. This means that the platform and fundraising pages will not be taking donations after this date. Please be reassured that all funds raised before and up to this date will be received by RSF.

For any fundraising your organisation is planning after August 2023, get in touch with team for advice on alternative fundraising platforms or ways to pay in money raised.

If you have any concerns or questions about your fundraising then please contact us.

Where does our fundraising go?

You can find out more about our mission and what your fundraising goes towards here.

How do we set up a fundraising page?

We recommend JustGiving or Enthuse as platforms for fundraising if you want to create a fundraising page, but you are welcome to use any provider you wish. If you’re unsure or want to discuss the best option for your clubs, get in touch with us.

Can you tell me more about the terms and conditions?

You can find the terms and conditions for the prize competitions, as well as the general terms around participation in the campaign, here.
