Donate in memory

Giving to the Ruth Strauss Foundation in memory of a loved one is a meaningful way to celebrate their life and to leave a lasting legacy.

Your loved one’s memory will live on through our work and in the hearts of all those helped by your gift.

Whether you’d like to make a one-off gift, hold a funeral collection, or fundraise in your loved one’s memory, your support helps us to provide professional, emotional support to families facing grief and to raise awareness of the need for more research and collaboration in the fight against non-smoking lung cancers.

Leave a gift in your Will

Your gift can support children, grandchildren and future generations from the heartbreak of losing a parent to incurable cancer and will help us to improve the diagnosis of non-smoking lung cancers. A gift in your Will has the power to change lives. It can give families the professional emotional support they need when a parent is diagnosed with an incurable cancer. It can help fund research into non-smoking lung cancers, helping provide better treatment options and outcomes. No gift is too small. Every gift has the power to save and change lives.

Writing your Will

A Will is the best way to ensure that your wishes are carried out after your death. When writing your Will, loved ones always come first. But once they are provided for, many people choose to donate a share of what is left over to a charity they care about. It’s always best to consult a solicitor, to ensure that your wishes are carried out as you intended.

How to leave a gift in your Will

To include a gift in your Will to the Ruth Strauss Foundation, you’ll need these details:
Charity name: The Ruth Strauss Foundation
Address: Unit F, Whiteacres, Cambridge Road
Whetstone, Leicestershire, LE8 6ZG

Further advice

Before you consider making a Will, it is a good idea to think about:

  • The main things you own – like a house, shares, endowments, savings or life insurance policies (known collectively as your ‘estate’)
  • What kinds of gifts you want to leave the people and charities you care about – pecuniary (money) or residuary (whatever is left over) legacies
  • Who your executor(s) will be.
Different kinds of gifts
  • You can donate a percentage of your estate – sometimes called a residuary gift. Many people choose to donate in this way because they will be sure that loved ones are provided for first. It also has the benefit of potentially reducing the amount of inheritance tax you are liable to pay.
  • You can make a specific cash gift.
  • Or you can leave an object such as jewellery, art or shares.
