By working in partnership with the Ruth Strauss Foundation we will be able to transform the lives of people affected by the death of a parent. We want to work together with businesses to deliver outstanding, exciting and mutually beneficial partnerships. We’re proud to be supported by some amazing companies who dedicate their time, money and resources all with the vision to share our spirit and help us transform lives.
Whether you work for a leading brand or are a small business owner, a partnership with us will benefit your organisation and those we support. There are various ways that companies can choose to work with us, from brand licensing agreements, to sponsorship of our programmes or events. Companies from all industries consistently recognise the significant and rewarding impact their involvement with charities has on their business. Whether it’s a message resonating with consumers, engaging employees, supporting a personal cause or simply standing alongside the general public who share a common desire to do their bit, these relationships can be truly transformational and enable charities to fulfil their ambitions to provide support when it is most needed.

The support of philanthropic individuals and organisations makes our ambitions a reality.
Their support enables us to develop programmes to the highest standard. Our work is never complete, and we strive to do more for people when they need us most. If you would like to be part of this, either as an individual, or through a trust or foundation we are here to support you.
With the support of significant grants from generous individuals and charitable trusts, we will be able to transform the provision of emotional support for families when it is most needed. We understand how important your contribution is. You will be kept updated on the impact of your support and our team will work with you and your Trustees to provide update reports, sharing the stories of those whose lives you have changed and ensure that your funding needs are met.

Our amazing team of volunteers are the beating heart of The Ruth Strauss Foundation. Make new friends and learn new skills, all the while helping us further our cause. However much time you can give, you’ll be making a big difference and we promise you’ll have fun while you’re at it!
Whether you’ve got days or just hours to spare, you can help. You could be the friendly face representing the Ruth Strauss Foundation at local events in your community or get ready to wave your flag as you cheer on participants at our sports events. Fancy doing your own thing? You can organise your own fundraising events too, with our full support.
If you don’t have much time but still want to do your bit when you can, you could put collection tins out in your community or volunteer at our flagship event, which takes place at Lord’s once a year.
When you join the Ruth Strauss Foundation as a volunteer, you become part of our family. We’ll welcome you with an induction, where you’ll find out more about the charity and your role.

Leave A Gift In Your Will
A gift in your Will has the power to change lives and give families the emotional support they need. By leaving a gift in your will, you can support our ground-breaking support programme and research into non-smoking lung cancers and provide help when it’s most needed for decades to come.
Legacies come in all shapes and sizes but every gift has the power to save and change lives. Bequeathed.org offer free Wills and valuable advice. Their simple and convenient service allows you to make the right Will for you in the way that best suits you – online, face to face or over the phone. You can take the first step by starting their online interview at any time.
The detailed guidance throughout the process will help you to consider everything you need to think about when making a Will, and to identify any issues where expert legacy advice could be valuable. This service is only available to supporters in England and Wales.
Gifts in Memory
Remembering a loved one.
Donating or fundraising in honour of a loved one is a wonderful way to celebrate their life. However you decide to pay tribute to your friend or relative, please know that we are deeply honoured and humbled to be thought of in this very special way. Your loved one’s memory will live on through our work and in the hearts of all those helped by your gift.
Every donation raised helps us to help more families with dependent children facing the death of a parent from a terminal diagnosis. Thank you for making this difference.

Gift Aid is a simple way to increase the value of a donation to charity. If you are a UK taxpayer, the charity could claim 25p on every £1 donated from the Government at no extra cost to you. This means that if you donate £10, with Gift Aid, it’s actually worth £12.50. Which is great news for those we support.
As a UK taxpayer, you will pay tax on your earnings, pensions or savings, at either a basic rate of 20% or a higher rate of 40%. Therefore, as you have paid tax on your income that you are then donating to charity, the Government allows the charity to reclaim this tax back. You can complete a Gift Aid declaration for charities if the amount of UK income tax or capital gains tax you’ve paid in any tax year (from 6th April on year to 5 April the next) covers the amount of tax charities will reclaim on your donations.
In order to sign up for Gift Aid, you just need to complete a Gift Aid declaration. You can complete an online declaration here or download and complete our Donation Form containing a declaration here and post it into us. Gift Aid can only be claimed on personal donations and does not apply to donations made on behalf of a group, raffles and auctions or collections.
Christmas Card Competition
Thank you to all our wonderful young supporters who submitted a #RuthsRobin creation this year.
We had a tough time deciding on a winner with so many amazing entries. However – there could only be one winner, and this year’s winning design came from Abbey! The cards are now available for purchase from our online shop:
A huge thank you to all participants and their wonderful designs ❤️
With the Foundation’s focus on supporting families, schools are at the heart of what we do.
Family Boot Camp
Try out a new type of exercise as a family, such as running, yoga or a home workout series. Complete two or three workouts as a family each week and set yourself a fitness goal to complete as a family by the end of the month. This could be running 10k, completing an advanced yoga series or even achieving a 3-minute plank!
Ask friends and family to sponsor you as you become pro’s in your new workout regime and check out the link below for some additional activity ideas that you could try as a family!
Fresh Air Challenge
Go outside with your family every day together for a walk, run, bike ride or hike. Try and go a little further each day and set yourself an overall distance to have completed by the end of the month. This could be the distance to your favourite holiday destination, your combined age in miles or your lucky number! Ask your friends to sponsor you and track how far you travel.
Use JustGiving to fundraise for your challenge and connect your JustGiving page with the fitness app Strava to help boost donations!
Grow at Home!
As a family, design and grow a flower box filled with red plants to showcase in your front garden or on your windowsill. You could choose roses, tulips’, petunias and more! Keep your flowers well cared for and decorate and display an Honesty Box to sit next to your creation. Invite neighbours and friends to donate some spare change into the Honesty Box for your beautiful display!
Alternatively, now is the perfect time of year to start growing your own tomatoes. Look after your tomato plants and once grown gift them to your neighbours in exchange for a small donation.
The link below provides some tips on how you can use Instagram to help fundraise – photos documenting the growth of your flowers or tomatoes can boost your fundraising potential!
As a family, get creative and learn a new skill like macrame, candle making, knitting, or card making. You could create wall hangings, scented candles, red scarves, and homemade cards.
Sell your creations to your neighbours and friends! Alternatively, gift your creations as birthday presents and donate the money that you would have spent instead.
Find your New Food Favourites
Go vegetarian or vegan as a family for a month and try out some new recipes. Everyone can take a turn to cook and you can sit down as a family to try your creations.
Ask your friends to sponsor you and keep them updated with your new favourite meals! Alternatively, donate the extra money that you would have spent on meat, fish, and dairy products that month.
Post-Christmas Clear Out
Why not de clutter your house and see what you could (safely) sell online, donating what you can to charity! Old clothes, outgrown toys and unread books are a few ideas to get you started.

Ask your friends to sponsor you for a month of limited screen time and use this extra time to connect with your family or try out a new hobby.
