Job Purpose

As the RSF Fundraising Campaigns Manager, you will play a pivotal role in planning, developing, and delivering compelling fundraising campaigns to support RSF’s mission. You will engage key audiences, secure vital funds, and enhance donor relationships, all with the aim of driving income and engagement growth.

Profile & Key

Design and delivery of a successful annual #RedforRuth campaign which includes: 

This role is responsible for the project management of RSF events including leading on Red for Ruth delivery and coordinating our Golf Day, Rock for Ruth and Long Room Dinner events. The postholder will also lead on management and (income) delivery of fundraising campaigns such as the Big Give Challenge, introduce new innovative campaigns/products/events into our portfolio – all with the aim to drive income and engagement growth.

To achieve these objectives the post holder will be expected to: 

  • Deliver Red for Ruth campaign – work with key stakeholders across the England Cricket Board, Marylebone Cricket Club and Sky to ensure successful delivery of the campaign, event KPIs met and maximum funds raised
  • Develop a strategy to grow Red for Ruth campaign across multiple sporting audiences, outside of cricket
  • Project Management of RSF events including Rock for Ruth, Golf Day and Long Room Dinner. Maximise strategic opportunities to grow these events by working alongside our existing partners and commercial relationships.
  • Delivery of RSF campaigns including the Big Give Challenge (subject to successful application)
  • Introduction of new fundraising campaigns and fundraising initiatives
  • Develop a plan for introducing new events to the RSF portfolio, working across our audience portfolio.

Key Activities

  • Work closely with external event delivery companies to ensure events are delivered on time, to budget and to an excellent standard.
  • Project Manage the delivery of events internally at RSF, leading on working group meetings, coordinating with key stakeholders to ensure campaigns and events are managed efficiently
  • Lead on RSF campaign delivery – across new and existing activities.
  • Budget management and (post) event delivery metric analysis
  • Develop an event and campaign strategy for RSF which builds on existing activity as well as introduce new opportunities through current and wider audiences.
  • Stakeholder relationship management across all event and campaign activities ranging from working with CEOs, ambassadors, marketing teams and event delivery staff.
  • Development of fundraising collateral in conjunction with campaigns/events
  • Coordinate merchandise requirements for events and campaigns
  • Coordinate the marketing requirements for each event, producing pre and post event communications/marketing collateral – including working with external production companies where required
  • Develop the fundraising mechanics required for each campaign/event including but not limited to website development, digital platforms, auctions and text to donate.
  • Set up event/campaign processes including fulfilment and supporter stewardship
  • Contribute to the sourcing of auction prizes
  • Ensure all events and campaigns are compliant with fundraising code of conduct, GDPR and other event processes/policies
  • Responsible for managing volunteers across all events and campaign activity including briefing and stewardship at the event
  • Ensure data capture of event attendees and auction prizes on Salesforce
  • Process invoices and other financial needs associated with the event
  • Liaise with the Commercial Lead and Head of Partnerships to utilise the events/campaigns to maximise opportunities for RSF for strategic long-term growth
  • Introduce and develop new campaigns/events to RSF aligned with the Fundraising strategy
  • On-site presence pre-event expected as well as working unsocial hours on event days

Expertise Required

In addition to someone who can embody the spirit of RSF, you should have the following skills and experience:

  • Exceptional experience of managing fundraising events/campaigns, managing a range of events/campaigns of different size and scale.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills including budget management, project management and prioritisation.
  • Excellent relationship management across stakeholders of multiple levels and organisations – utilising interpersonal skills to influence, persuade and negotiate
  • Strong team player and project leadership, ensuring clear and regular communication with the RSF team and stakeholders as appropriate
  • Innovative thinker who has experience of building successful fundraising campaigns from scratch
  • A willingness to adapt and be flexible. There are often new projects, changing priorities, and new processes that you will need to embrace.
  • Ability to keep calm under pressure and maintain a clear head
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to undertake travel, including overnight stays where necessary.
  • Experience working with CRM systems and project planning tools

About The Foundation

In early 2018, Ruth Strauss, the late wife of Sir Andrew Strauss, the former England cricket captain, was diagnosed with an incurable lung cancer that affects non-smokers. Ruth died on 29 December 2018; she was 46 years old and mother to two children, then aged 10 and 13.

In her memory, Sir Andrew has launched The Ruth Strauss Foundation to:

  • Provide emotional support for families to prepare for the death of a parent from cancer
  • Raise awareness of the need for more research & collaboration in the fight against non-smoking lungcancers
