Fulwell Golf Club has chosen the Ruth Strauss Foundation as their charity partner for 2022/23. Club captains, Mark Feltham and Geraldine Shaw selected the charity and plan to raise £20,000 across the partnership.
Fulwell Golf Club will run events across the year to raise funds and awareness, including Golf days, raffles, and auctions. They will also take on playing 102 holes in one day in the longest day of golf challenge! The Partnership was launched last Saturday night with a cocktail party and a short presentation to members by Ruth Strauss Foundation Partnership Manager, Hugh Thompson.
The two captains for 2022/23 talked about why they chose to support Ruth Strauss Foundation.
”I was in total agreement with Mark that we should support a charity where we could make a material difference. When he introduced us to the Ruth Strauss Foundation it immediately resonated with me personally in both of its main aims as I have close family members and friends where children have had to deal with the loss of a parent, and we recently lost a cousin to non-smoking lung cancer. I'm looking forward to raising both awareness of and funds for the foundation in the coming year.Geraldine Shaw Fulwell Golf Club Ladies Captain
”When it came to selecting the Fulwell GC Charity Partner for 2023, we wanted to work with a group we felt we could genuinely help. With my background in Cricket and some family experiences of premature death, the Ruth Strauss Foundation resonated with all of us. We really hope that, in our small way, we can contribute to making the awful events these children have to deal with a little easier."Mark Feltham Fulwell Golf Club Men’s Captain
