Stonehouse Pizza and Carvery has raised over £32,000 for the Ruth Strauss Foundation during our charity partnership in 2022.

The 94 Stonehouse Pizza and Carvery restaurants up and down the country have been raising money throughout 2022. Staff at each restaurant got behind the cause in many different ways. From sponsored bike rides, Christmas raffles, children’s discos to fancy dress! Some staff also came together and climbed the O2 in London, raising £3,000.

The company chose to raise funds for the Ruth Strauss Foundation after losing their work colleague, Graeme, in January 2021. Graeme was the heart and soul of the brand, a man who connected with everyone he met, with a great sense of humour and a lust for life. Graeme suffered a fatal heart attack that shocked everyone and left a young family without their partner and dad. He was a huge cricket fan and  spent many years playing in the local cricket leagues, so the link with cricket and families made the Ruth Strauss Foundation an obvious choice.

Scott Thompson, who has been instrumental in driving fundraising across the partnership, said:

The link up with the RSF has been amazing, they have been so supportive of our fundraising activity and always on hand to help us with communications and tools for fundraising. It has been a real privilege to learn more about the work they do and to be able to partner with them to raise such a wonderful amount of money to support the great work they do.

We are so grateful for the effort and support of Stonehouse Pizza and Carvery employees from around the UK; what an incredible achievement! It means such a lot to us that the business has chosen to support RSF throughout this year. Stonehouse is such a good example of what a committed group of colleagues can do to help charities and beneficiaries with a bit of imagination and positivity. Huge thanks to each one of them from all of us at RSF.

The funds raised from the partnership will help the Ruth Strauss Foundation continue to provide emotional support for families to prepare for the death of a parent. Alongside continuing to raise awareness of the need for more research and collaboration in the fight against non-smoking lung cancer.
